A Net

For my girlfriend, whose name is Annette

Lamination + CNC

I laminated a couple pieces of wood I found laying around the student maker space together so that I could have a thick enough stock to cut the net out. After doing this I quickly drew up a 3d representation of the nicest trout net I could find on the internet. After routing out the profile on the shopbot I got to work sanding away.

Sanding and Staining

After many hours sanding I finally got the profile of the net where I wanted it. Then it was time to stain the wood and cover it in a waterproof varnish. I used a couple of old lacquers on top of each other to achieve a nice brown that could protect the wood from scratches and water damage.

Weaving the Net

Finally it was time for the net to go into the frame I had spent days making. I chose to weave my own net because I thought it would look nicer and fit better than an off the self rubber net. This was definitely the most time consuming step.
